Insincerity As An Artform - Further Seems Forever
I've been thinking a lot about Carl's message on Sunday - the lack of sharing our lives with one another and seeking Godly counsel from each other. He prefaced his message by saying it was very contraversial - and up until the final prayer, I was waiting for him to spout heresy, to justify his statement. I left feeling confused, because I agreed completely with what he said - it is completely Biblical to do so, and it is something we lack, across the board. After lunch, while discussing said sermon, I further thought about my own involvement. If I truly agree with what he said, why don't I practice it? Why do I keep others at bay, while asking for prayer, and informing them later of how things turned out? I came upon the contraversy - and it is something that stems from how I was raised, and how I'm sure many people have been raised. Church was a social event on Sunday mornings, sometimes during the week. You didn't open your life and seek for guidance from people, because these people were not the people that were closest to you, and you don't trust the people that you only see once a week. I think as I've experienced the shift to what we now experience as the "Church Body" - a unity and fellowship that is unlike anything I've ever known - I've kept a mentality of separation, perhaps unintentionally, because I hadn't experienced the other before. I want my family to be a part of my life and the decisions I make - I just didn't realize it before.

A beautiful post Ben, to know God is to trust His church. This was a big hurtle in my life but, like everything else God shows Himself strong in our weakness. Praise God for the Church.

Praise God for your honesty and insight into yourself. As Adam and Eve hid from the Lord in the Garden we seem to hide from the Lord in relationships. If you are ready to begin breaking down that separation I know there is someone from your fellowhsip waiting to buy you lunch.
